Reading and Literacy Grade 1 develops the foundations of reading and early writing through sound awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Guided by the DepEd MATATAG curriculum, it builds on the learner’s first language and familiar experiences, helping children read with understanding, respond thoughtfully to texts, and express their own ideas.
